I noticed a ship docked at Pier 66 on my walk to work along the Seattle waterfront yesterday. They were doing some strange formation at the stern. I tried asked two guys taking a picture what was going on, but they spoke German so that didn’t work. I was suspicious it was a Kiwi ship as I recognized the bird on the ship as being a well, kiwi bird.
I sent a tweet out to my friend @TinoBambino on the Twitter who lives in New Zealand. Sure enough, I was right! I even saw a blurb about it in the Seattle Times this morning.
Turns out the Te Kaha and the Endeavour are the first Kiwi ships in 25 years to dock in the United States. So on my walk to work this morning I was armed with information & took a few more pictures. They’re doing tours from 10am – 3pm today only, so I think I’ll walk down on my lunch and check them out.
Oh, and that strange formation I saw them doing? It was their flag raising ceremony!
