Yesterday was a BIG day for Maggie. She got her license back! 10 long months of no driving came to an end. Even the guy at the DOL was happy for me.
We got my new (to me) 1997 Toyota Camry added to our insurance, and I was ready! Got home, swapped out the studded tires for all season, vacuumed & wiped her out (thanks for helping with all that, Dad!) – and she was ready to hit the road.
So while my parents thought I was going home (yeah right!), I took her around the island for a little geocaching. First stop, Fisher Pond. I cleaned out all the caches in this area a couple months ago, but there was one left as it had been muggled. I saw it was replaced to off I went!
Next I drove down to Dockton Park, which is over on Maury Island (Vashon and Maury are connected by an isthmus), about a 10 minute drive. My Dad grew up in this little town of Dockton, but I grew up across the water in Burton. There are many caches in this area, but I went after just one so I can save the rest for a rainy day when I want to cache but not leave the island. A little path off the parking lot took me to a neat circular beach treasure & a smiley!
And with that, I enjoyed the view for a few minutes before heading home for the night. Kids playing, couples strolling hand-in-hand, boats quietly humming across the water, sky turning beautiful shades of pink among the clouds, Great Blue Herons, a family of ducks crossing the harbor…such a perfect ending to a fantastic day. I wish I would have shot a #pano but this will have to do.
